Motorola's Droid X is a Verizon Wireless smart phone worth looking at. The phone, powered by Google's Android operating system, will land in stores Thursday and cost $200 with a two-year contract, after a mail-in rebate. But skip it if you like wearing tight jeans.
The liquid crystal display is one of the largest, at 4.3 inches, and takes up practically the entire face of the device, save for four slivers of buttons.
-- Size: The DROID X is probably one of the largest phones out there. It’s BIG.
-- Speed: The 1Ghz processor in here screams. Seems to be even faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1Ghz processor found in the HTC Incredible.
-- Screen: One word: Heavenly.
-- OS: It’s Android 2.1, and it’s tweaked by Motorola with a few VERY cool enhancements. Motorola made a point in saying it’s NOT BLUR, and I tend to agree. It’s just relatively minor enhancements and tweaks that make 2.1 even better.
-- Camera: the 8MP camera is really nice. Scenes is really sweet, it allows you to use different “profiles” when taking photos, so you can choose which microphone you want to use. Very nice touch.
-- Battery Life: Haven’t had much time to test it, but first impressions are good. I was quite worried that battery life would suck because of the giant screen, but not really the case here. Good job, Motorola.
For those who love to text and watch movies, Droid X’s magnificent screen would be a treat. The device also has a HDMI port to allow you to connect it to your HD TV and watch high quality videos. The device is priced at $300 with a $100 rebate on a new two-year contract or an extension.
Hope with all the details, you get to easily decide between Droid X and iPhone 4 based on your priorities and requirements.
